A Print A Tree Project · United Kingdom
Native woodland in the UK. Several sites, not one, and counts of how many trees survive.
This is not a single forest. It is a group of sites across the UK where Ecologi’s partners plant native trees with local people. Printlogik has funded 2 trees here.

In short
- Where: Sites across the UK, including Dumyat in the Ochil Hills, the Isle of Skye, the Isle of Mull and the Lowther Estate in the Eastern Lakes.
- What: Planting native trees in suitable places, then looking after them and counting how many survive.
- Who: The Future Forest Company, Protect Earth and International Tree Foundation, working with local people.
- Why: Only about 13% of UK land has tree cover, and only half of that is native trees. Woodland wildlife is still declining.
Why the UK
Ecologi’s page describes the UK as one of the most nature-depleted countries in Europe. Only around 13% of its land is covered by trees, which is among the lowest shares in Europe. Only half of that is native trees. As a result, the amount of woodland wildlife in the UK keeps falling.
The projects on this page are in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Some are in towns and cities, where trees bring green space, cut air and noise pollution and give wildlife somewhere to live.
Why the right trees in the right places
Not every piece of land should be planted. The page is clear that the benefits come from suitable trees planted in suitable places. Where that is done, trees help in several ways.
- They soften the weather. Trees reduce flooding, give shade in hot months, break strong winds and hold moisture in ground that is getting drier.
- They look after the soil. Trees reduce erosion, improve the soil and raise the amount of carbon stored in it.
- They support wildlife and people. Native plants and animals under pressure get habitat back. People get cleaner air and water and places to walk and rest.

Who does the work
Ecologi names three partners. The Future Forest Company runs large nature restoration and reforestation projects. Protect Earth is a charity registered in England and Wales that plants trees and helps other people plant them. International Tree Foundation is a charity that works with local communities to plant trees and restore forests.
Every project is carried out with local people. That can mean planting on land a community owns, bringing in local volunteers, or holding meetings so residents can shape the plans. Some projects also work with school groups.
The project on record
Ecologi has funded UK planting since 2019. Its page gives no single total of trees planted across all sites. What it does publish are dated updates from individual sites, and many of them report how many trees have survived.
The page also mentions Glenaros on the Isle of Mull, a Future Forest Company site where the work includes peatland and the protection of ancient woodland as well as planting.
- August 2023Protect Earth went back to two sites, Howard Court and Pantpurlais. More than 95% of the trees had survived after two years.
- June 2024Ecologi’s yearly site visit covered Dumyat, Leadloch, Glenaros, Brisbane Mains, Uigshader and Sleat. Many trees were taller than the visitors after a couple of years.
- October 2024At Uigshader on the Isle of Skye, 95% of the native trees planted early in the previous planting season had survived. A local planting team did the work.
- March 2026More than 20,000 trees were planted across the Lowther Estate in the Eastern Lakes during 2025. They are widely spaced, to recreate open wood pasture, with broadleaf trees ringed by hawthorn, blackthorn and hazel to protect them from grazing.
- July 2026At Dumyat, near Menstrie in the Ochil Hills, monitoring finished in October 2025 estimated the survival rate at between 92% and 95%. Trees that die are replaced.
- July 2026Monitoring continues at Dumyat. Thermal drone surveys track deer and grazing. The trees planted include pedunculate oak, Scots pine, downy birch, rowan, elder and juniper. Red kites, red squirrels and otters live on the site.
92% to 95%is the estimated survival rate of trees planted at Dumyat, from monitoring completed in October 2025 and reported by Ecologi in July 2026.
How the project is checked
We do not choose or run the projects ourselves. They are selected and monitored by Ecologi. This project carries the “Nature Project Ecologi Approved” mark. Ecologi names the three partners above as the organisations that help deliver the work and verify its results, and it visits sites itself each year.
Ecologi also keeps a public record of what each of its members has funded, so our contribution can be checked by anyone.
What Printlogik has funded here
Through the Print A Tree Project, Printlogik orders have funded 2 trees in the UK. That is 2 trees, spread across a programme that plants many thousands.
Ecologi lists this project as live, but its page says it is not open to new funding at present. Every order we print still funds planting: the contribution is made for you through Ecologi and goes to the projects it is funding at the time.

Questions
Woodland in the UK, answered
Where are the trees planted?
At several sites across the UK. Those named on Ecologi’s page include Dumyat in the Ochil Hills, Uigshader on the Isle of Skye, Glenaros on the Isle of Mull and the Lowther Estate in the Eastern Lakes.
What is being planted?
Native trees. At Dumyat these include pedunculate oak, Scots pine, downy birch, rowan, elder and juniper.
Who plants the trees?
The Future Forest Company, Protect Earth and International Tree Foundation, together with local people and volunteers.
Do the trees survive?
The sites that have reported did well. Monitoring completed in October 2025 estimated that 92% to 95% of the trees at Dumyat had survived. Trees that die are replaced.
Is the project still running?
Ecologi lists it as live and has funded it since 2019. Its page says the project is not open to new funding at present. The latest update is from July 2026.
How does my print order help?
Every Printlogik order funds tree planting and carbon reduction through Ecologi, at no extra cost to you. Printlogik orders have funded 2 trees in the UK. New orders fund the projects Ecologi supports at the time.
Can I check this?
Yes. Ecologi publishes the project and our contributions. See the project on Ecologi, or our public profile from the Print A Tree page.
